personal - MX5 ABOUT

NB: CAR WAS SOLD IN SEPTEMBER 2013

:(

In January 2005 I made a decision to dump my leaking Peugeot 206cc 2.0 SE and to buy a new car. The choices were narrowed to two cars - Toyota MR2 and Mazda MX5.

I made the right choice and bought a Special Edition Mazda MX5 1.8i Razor Blue Arctic. The car was picked up on 18th May 2005. The rest, as they say, is history.

Generic Information About the Arctic

Special edition 2005 MK2.5 Arctic 1.8i,  priced £17,500 on-the-road - March 2006.

It is fitted with air conditioning, blue heated leather seats, a black cloth soft top and unique design 15 alloy wheels. It has a  1.8-litre 146ps engine which  returns 32.5mpg on the Official combined cycle.

It has remote central locking and deadlocking, a single CD player with two additional tweeters and a wind blocker with two built-in additional speakers.

It also comes with anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), seats with integral head restraints, chrome scuff plates and side window garnish, black leather trimmed steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake lever to complement the blue leather seats, and blue door trim.

It does (0 – 62 mph 8.4 seconds - 129 mph). The insurance group is at 12A.

At this point I can say that this is SIMPLY THE BEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED!

WHAT WHEN WHY AND ALL THAT

Hard Dog Roll Bar

Well i've been in communication with Phil from Performance5 about getting replacing my style bar with hard dog roll bar. It's something I have been thinking about for a while now.

17th June 2007

Flat Batter

I think I know how I managed to get a flat battery. Instead of locking the car I managed to open the boot. It stayed open all night and the boot light drained the battery. I have to be more careful.

Knee problems

I am just starting to have problems with my left knee. Part of the problem is that it's awkward to get in and out of the garage. This results in me twisting my knee slightly. I really don't want to get rid of the ca so I am going to have to find ways around this.

3rd June 2007

New Number Plates

I ordered some new numberplates today. It's amazing how 'manky' waterdamaged plates can look. I should get them on Friday.

1st June 2007

Hard Dog

I really do love the hard dog roll bars obtainable via Performance5. I just don't want to spoil the overall look of the car. However I am up for a change. Decisions...Decisions...!

Fog lights in action

Well believe it or not, today is the first day since I purchased my car, that I have had an opportunity to legally use my fog-lights!

To my shame

To my shame I haven't cleaned my car properly for about three months now. The inside gets a bit of a wipe now and again but that's about it really. I must treat my car with the respect it deserves. This weekend, weather permitting, it's going to get a first class valet service!

Items on Ebay

I've decided to put a number of items on Ebay to get rid of them. it was a difficult decision. I had to consider whether I might want to restore the car to it's original status or re-insert some of the modified items. I've decided to keep my car for as long as possible and therefore get rid of surplus items, either bought and not used or removed in favour of something to my own taste. So am selling:

Three penalty points

Well I managed to get 3 penalty points and a £60.00 fine for travelling 40mph in a 30mph zone. I guess I should have known better, although in my defence I actually thought it WAS a 40mph zone.

29th March 2006

Damn Scratch!!

I've been taking my car to a car wash recently....not the drive through of course, but the jet wash. I was getting a tad over-enthusiastic with the washing and have managed to scrape the jet hose against my car, scraping off a bit of paint. I'm so annoyed...after all the car I've been taking too!

17th February 2006

Wales escapade!!

I took a drive through Snowdon. Absolutely beautiful weather and even more beautiful countryside.

14th February 2006

Dual Exhaust fitted!

Hey hey hey!! The Racing Beat Dual Exhaust has been fitted. I am excited. It has a wonderful throaty sound, but is not 'boy racer' loud! I love it!!

13th February 2006

Damaged Fog light

Damn! Just cleaned my car and noticed that the glass on one of the fog lights is broken. What a pain!

08th February 2006

MX5 sunstrip removed

Well I've removed the MX5 sunstrip. It was lovely, but I wanted a change! So I peeled it off lovingly. The screen looks a bit bare but I'm glad it's done.

28th September 2005

I just can't do it!

I bought a clear high level brake light thinking i could fit it myself. I'll be blowed if I can do it. I spent about 5 hours on and off, trying to fit the blasted thing and then gave up. Definitely one for my dealership. I hate admitting defeat but I guess I have found my limitation...anything mechanical! Grrrrrrrrrrr!

19th September 2005

Front grille changed

A new front grille has been added to my car. Excellent!!.

25th September 2005

Alloy gear stick and gear knob

I had a new alloy gear stick and gear knob fitted. The words 'cheap and nasty' spring to mind. They were quickly removed. Sometimes you don't realise what you've got until it's gone. I have a greater appreciation for the original leather items now. On a better note, I've replaced the rear lights with lexus style light, and all the other lights with clear side lights and repeaters. Formidable...as the Gauls would say!

5th March 2006  2005

New MX5 arrives

Well I went to pick up my car today. Wow! Absolutely fantastic!
