Assess risk
Site history
"If you would understand anything, observe its beginning and its development." - Aristotle (1875 - 1965)
February 1998: The Safety Zone is launched, dealing solely with health and safety information. The site is created using wysiwyg AOL Press.
September 1998: The site expands to include jokes and free JavaScript resources.
January 1999: The Safety Zone is redesigned using Paint Shop Pro.
November 1999: New domain name purchased - assessrisk.com. Guest book and chat room and award program added.
June 2001: Flash graphics added. Wysiwyg FrontPage 2000 is used to edit and redesign the site. A new award program is developed and the site is renamed 'Assess Risk'.
April 2002: All non-essential 'junk' items are removed from the site, which now concentrates on:
- Workplace health and safety;
- Safety advice for the single female traveller;
- Advice on website creation and design;
- Website award program.
November 2003: Assess Risk is redesigned using CSS and XHTML 1.0 Transitional, and hand coding. The site concentrates solely on health and safety and its award program.
November 2004: A new design is created to XHTML Strict 1.0 specifications. It should be noted that the site has been designed with screen 1024 x 768 resolution in mind. 800 x 600 viewers will see a 'slightly' different version. (The differences are decorative not functional.)
February 2006: The site is redesigned again to XHTML Strict 1.1 specifications.
September 2006: RSS feed added to the site as well as a stat counter. The stat counter is designed to measure unique visitors. Multiple visits with a minimum elapsed time of 6 hours between visits will be recorded as 'unique'.
For those of you interested in the style sheets used, abused and torn apart, feel free to take a peak and do what you want with them. I got most of my insight from taking a peak under other people's 'wafting kilts' and 'breezy skirts'.
