personal - GemStone IV interview with SHALLIMAR

Interview with Shallimar

Interview held on  Restday, day 12 of the month Imaerasta in the year 5110.

QUESTIONS

[Zanthie's Wagon]
The interior of the pale green wagon is haphazardly decorated with swathes of multicolored fabric to cover the otherwise bare walls. A set of rickety old oak racks stand in the middle of the room holding a selection of wares. In the corner of the room a makeshift fire pit has been built, a pile of applewood logs crackling within it. The ceiling has been festooned with holly, giving the wagon a festive ambiance. A large oak-framed sign leans against one of the walls.

Speaking softly to Shallimar, you say, "Wanna answer the questions out loud or in whispers..? More public than I normally do it."

You grin.

You softly say, "Totally up to you."

Shallimar shrugs.

You softly say, "You can whisper in my shell like ear."

You grin.

Shallimar deeply says, "Okies."

Shallimar deeply asks, "No crab gonna crawl out an pinch me lips, right?"

You grin.

You softly say, "With luck, nay."

You grin.

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "Thanks for doing this - will record after it's completed."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "Ok first question - what is your full name." Shallimar whispers, "Shallimar Wyldcat."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "Excellent - do people call ye by an abbreviated name - Shall or Shalli?"

Shallimar whispers, "Sometimes tha folks am extra close ta dos."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "If you wish to tell me, how many times have you visited the trainer - No answer is required to this if ye nay want to say - not essential to the interview."

Shallimar whispers, "81 as of yesterdy."

You turn to Shallimar and cheer!

You softly say, "Congrats."

You softly say, "No stranger to the trainer for sure."

You softly say, "Oh where are my manners."

You offer your stale ale to Shallimar, who has 30 seconds to accept the offer.
Shallimar has accepted your offer and is now holding some stale ale.

You softly say, "Not the best ale but still quenches ye thirst."

Shallimar tips his head back and empties some stale ale down his gullet!

You softly say, "A true warrior drinking style."

Shallimar whispers, "Almost a decade er sos."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "Ahhh ye must have seen some changes then."

Shallimar nods to you.

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "How long have you wandered the lands?"

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "Ok third question - what hunting style do you adopt?"

Shallimar whispers, "I used tae do tha ole sword and board wit fu on tha side... now adays i like tha twin blade spin."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "I started that way too. Interesting - only a small percentage of warriors interviewed so far opt for the twin approach but those that do say they love it."

Shallimar whispers, "Oh aye, verily."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "What percentage of your time do you spend hunting? How do you spend your other time."

Shallimar whispers, "Alot less now then ah used ta.... ah used ta power hunt... now ahm lucky ta get a few hunts a day in... ah dun spent alot of time listenin ta tha amunet, and tryin ta make coin... ah wrote a book about such."

Shallimar ponders.

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "Oh a book - is it something available to read for all?"

Shallimar flips to a page in his black leather manifest.

Shallimar whispers, "Well... it were available fer all... was a bookbinder what came out several yers backs... mine didna sell much."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "Interesting indeed - perhaps one day it will be recirculated."

You smile at Shallimar.

Shallimar whispers, "Ah could get me book fer yas."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "That would be wonderful - at the end of the last question I would love to see it."

Shallimar nods.

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "Next question: What is and/or was your most enjoyable hunting area and why?"

Shallimar ponders.

Shallimar whispers, "Well... Varuner was fun... an the Skull Temple.... and minotaurs."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "I loved varuner - and minotaurs!!"

You nod to Shallimar.

Shallimar whispers, "Minotaurs of late, was up there yesterday."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "What do you enjoy most about your time in the lands?"

Shallimar whispers, "All tha star metal ah been able ta collect over tha years, an tha friends ah made."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "Ahhh friendship - can't beat that!"

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "Have any favorite of the star metal?"

Shallimar ponders.

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "If not then that's fine - hard to put one above the other sometimes."

You smile at Shallimar.

Shallimar whispers, "Well... kinna go wrong with somethin functional... like me weapon... but ah had sever weapons over the years... shields armours all sorts... hard ta say really."

Shallimar shows you a massive veil iron meat cleaver, which he is holding in his left hand. Crafted of solid veil iron, the single-bladed axehead sports a long, razor-sharp edge and a heavy spine. Attached to the solid haon haft with a length of strong sinew, flecks of teal mar the reflection in the veil iron blade's mirror finish. You also notice a small enchanter's glyph.

Speaking softly to Shallimar, you say, "Very nice indeed."

Shallimar put an onyx-trimmed black leather manifest in his veil iron chausses.

Shallimar removes a battered veil iron footlocker from in his malleable egg sac.
Shallimar put a massive veil iron meat cleaver in his veil iron footlocker.

inspect footlocker
You look closely at Shallimar, examining a battered veil iron footlocker. The main body seems completely unscathed, though the luster of polished veil iron on the lid is marred by countless dents and dings. Several scratches disfigure the lock plate, no doubt showing rebuffed attempts at unlawful entry.

You softly say, "Like ye footlocker too."

You nod to Shallimar.

Shallimar deeply says, "Thankee."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "Is there anyone within the lands that you admire? (Any profession) Who and why?"

You softly say, "This can be past or present."

You smile at Shallimar.

Shallimar whispers, "Well... there be tha founder/leader of tha gryphons, Cryheard."

Shallimar reaches out and touches his black bracer.
You nod.

Speaking softly to Shallimar, you say, "You a member I take it."

Shallimar nods to you.
Shallimar deeply says, "Ah was there when Cemb got kicked out.... the only memeber ta 'ean' tha distinction."

You softly say, "I know Cemb but not very well."

Shallimar deeply says, "Kinna say i know hims well,,, but ah know he got a slab of star metal from a meteore."

You nod to Shallimar.

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "- this is an interesting question: What has been your best moment in the lands so far?"

Shallimar whispers, "Best moment? when Baron Hocstib was finally defeated... ah guess... least as far as war times go."

You softly say, "A good memory I see."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "I remember that moment."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "If that was ye best, what was ye worst?"

Shallimar whispers, "Tha day una me friends went demonic durin an invasion tryin ta save me."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "Yes I can see how that would have been your worst..."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "Did they become themselves again?"

You raise an eyebrow in Shallimar's direction.

Shallimar shakes his head.
You grunt pensively.

You softly say, "Now that would have been an aweful day."

You agree with Shallimar.

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "Ok three more questions left..."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "What advice would you give to a new warrior?"

Shallimar whispers, "Keep scrubbin tha floors and polishin tha armor.... its good fer yas."

You grin at Shallimar.

You agree with Shallimar.

You softly exclaim, "It's character building for sure!"

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "If you had to do it all again, knowing what you now know, would you do anything differently?"

Shallimar whispers, "Nae really."

You beam happily at Shallimar!

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "I like that answer."

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "And the final question: Is there anything you want to add to this interview? Anything you want to add that perhaps didn't come through via the questions?"

Shallimar whispers, "Whee is yer beard?"

You grin at Shallimar.

(Bremerial rubs her chin.)

You softly say, "Shaved."

Shallimar gasps.

You softly say, "People kept referring to me as 'he'."

Shallimar deeply asks, "Does yer mother now?"

You softly say, "Well she knew it was on the cards."

You softly say, "Besides I can always regrow it."

Shallimar whispers, "Nothin comes ta mind.. beardless one."

Shallimar scratches vigorously at his beard, releasing a small flurry of dust and hair.

You quietly whisper to Shallimar, "Then all that's left is for me to thank you Shallimar."

Shallimar whispers, "How ye gonna do that?"

Shallimar winks at you.

Speaking softly to Shallimar, you say, "Will write the words on a scroll and publish today."
