personal - GemStone IV interview with BALInWORN

Interview with Balinworn Mirkendell

Interview held on Tilamaires, day 29 of the month Eorgaen in the year 5109.

QUESTIONS

1: What is your name (required) and training level (not essential)

My name is Balinworn an Ah've been aroun the block a few times wit trainin.

2: How long have you wandered the lands?

Oh hell... Ah've been aroun since... hmm...mebbe twelve years or so?

3: What hunting style do you opt for?

Don't git killed. An if ya care Ah use two handed weapons.

4: What percentage of your time do you spend hunting? How do you spend your other time?.

Hmmm.. Ah hardly ever go huntin really. Ah mostly enjoy sittin back an listenin an watchin an drinkin Winterberry Ale - the best ale in the whole world.

(5): What is and/or was your most enjoyable hunting area and why?

Tis hard ta answer really. Honestly jes about all o 'em since so many areas had different challenges, different tactics or different people. Ah loved Red Bears since it's where I really learned ta hunt on my own an Ah had two different huntin partners kill me there. Warfarers in River's Rest since they scairt the crap oota me at the time. Skull Temple in Elf Town since things would get crazy swarming in dere an it would take everythin we had fer Aubery an myseff not to jes get completely overwhelmed. Then Darkstone an The Rift booth are jes so amazingly dangerous an creepy that dey still make me damn near come oota me skin jes bein there...but tis amazin ta be able ta say you walked oot afterwards.

6: What do you enjoy most about your time in the lands?

Bein wit people an those occasional times when ya hafta rise up, put yerseff oot there ta defend your homes an yer friends an ya come oot bloodied ta within an inch o yer life - but you DO come oot..

7: Is there anyone within the lands that you admire? (Any profession) Who and why?

So many of the fiters Ah met when Ah was young what made me realize how ta be a fiter - Gaq, Blaqtar, Geijon, Berr and many more. An Kerl, whom Ah am lucky enough ta consider a good friend now. An much as Ah hate ta admit it an will deny it if anyone hears - my best friend Aubery. He's an idiot true, but he introduced me ta Winterberry Ale an he has saved me in battle more times than I can count. But to be fair, Ah've saved him even more times. Make sure you got that. Ah've saved him more than he's saved me.

8: What has been your best moment in the lands so far?

Two. One was defeatin the Krol Pirate Sankir an the other was bein inducted inta Hoose Arcane an bein given a verra special weapon what was made fer Lord Berr back when he walked.

9: What has been your worst moment in the lands so far?

Two. One was when Ah was forced ta come face to face wit Sheru. Was a horrible an terrible thin to see an somethin Ah hope never to repeat. The other was meetin Aubery.

10: What advice would you give to a new warrior?

Never stop bein honorable. Also make a point to listen to those people who tell you something can't be done. So dat when you go do it, you can come back to 'em an tell 'em how wrong dey was. Oh, and don't talk to Aubery.

11: If you had to do it all again, knowing what you now know, would you do anything differently?

I would make a point to have really spoken to some o 'em old fiters back when I was still learnin my craft.

12: Is there anything you want to add to this interview?

Bein a fiter is a great thing. Sure 'em magic users have their fancy tricks an floppy hats an crap - but bein a fiter is where it's at. You doan hafta worry about magicks workin or not. You rely on yerseff. Yer own muscles an yer own sheer force. It also doan hurt ta be too stupid to know when ta stop. Sorta like now I suppose. But at the end o the day, when yer still standin dere while everyone else including da sissy wit da daggers is hidin in the shadows behind you (Yeah Ah'm lookin at you Aubery)... well.. dats a feelin nuttin else will compare to.
