Do you think you've got an idea for a verb that would make our mighty giantman race more charismatic? Have you always wanted to be able to do a certain action in just that special way to show off your giantman coolness? Is there some verb missing from our vocabulary that could be used to perfectly identify all of us as giantmen and make others wish they'd been born like us? Now's your chance to remedy the situation! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As always, there are Rules, and here they are: 1. Existing: If at all possible, try to use an existing verb. If you don't think your idea quite fits an existing verb, go ahead and submit it, we just may need to change it. 2. Editing: As with everything else in the game, the idea will have to pass QC, so we reserve the right to cut/paste/chop and otherwise edit your submission (while attempting to preserve its essence) so that it fits the giantman race as a whole. 3. Flavor: Verbs should be things that you think all giantmen would do (or the majority of them, anyway). Some sort of cultural type thing, but not specific to just one clan or tribe. 4. Format: Your submission should include the following: a) First person messaging (what you see). b) Third person messaging (what everyone else sees). c) First person messaging when directing the verb at another player. d) Third person messaging as seen by the target player. e) Third person messaging as seen by everyone else. f) First person messaging when directing the verb at yourself. g) Third person messaging when directing the verb at yourself. h) First person messaging when directing the verb at a creature. i) Third person messaging when directing the verb at a creature. j) First person messaging when directing the verb at an object. k) Third person messaging when directing the verb at an object. -Example- (this is just off the top of my head, so go easy on me) Verb: Howl a) You raise your head proudly and howl out the distinctive ululating giantkin cry of challenge. b) Talisker raises his head proudly and howls out the distinctive ululating giantkin cry of challenge. c) You face Storven and howl out the distinctive ululating giantkin cry of challenge. d) Talisker faces you and howls out the distinctive ululating giantkin cry of challenge. Are you ready? e) Talisker faces Storven and howls out the distinctive ululating giantkin cry of challenge. f) Feeling the vitality of the giantkin blood flowing through your veins, you raise your head proudly and howl out a challenge to the world! g) With an exuberant look on his face, Talisker raises his head proudly and howls out a challenge to the world. h) You face the rolton, take a bold step forward, and howl out the distinctive ululating giantkin cry of challenge. i) Talisker faces a rolton, steps forward, and howls out the distinctive ululating giantkin cry of challenge. j) You face the tree and howl out the distinctive ululating giantkin cry of challenge. Feel better now? k) Talisker faces a tree and howls out the distinctive ululating giantkin cry of challenge. The tree seems unimpressed as Talisker chuckles to himself. 5. Email: Submissions must be mailed to GS4Giantkin@aol.com with the following information: -a) Subject line of "Giantman Verb Contest" (or something similar). -b) Your character's name (the one who will claim the prize if you win). -c) The game instance (GS4 Prime or GS4 Platinum). -d) An email address where I can contact you, if needed. (Don't laugh, I've had submissions come in from an email address that later no longer existed and I had no way to contact the person unless I happened to catch him/her in game.) 6. Deadline: Entries will be accepted through September 30th. That gives you all plenty of time to think on it. 7. Prizes: Yes, there will be prizes! Only 2 or 3 new verbs will be created, but each winner will receive a personalized EZScript on an item of his/her choosing, not to mention the bragging rights for winning. 8. NOTE: Due to upcoming pre-scheduled events, staff and coding resource allocation for these events and other projects, etc., I can't say when exactly the winning verbs will be implemented. (Coding a verb is a bit more complicated than coding most item scripts.) Winners will be announced no later than the Highman Games, though I'd like to post the winners here prior to that date. Post questions/comments here or send them to the email address shown above. ~Talisker
